Rangers have received the green light to sign Andrius Velicka

Rangers have received the green light to Viking Stavanger sign striker Andrius Velicka.

Norwegian club Viking have reluctantly agreed to let the former leader Hearts leave for a fee should be around £ 1 million, and the operation is to go through next month.

Velicka, 29, has already confirmed its appetite for the move to Ibrox personal level and is not expected to present a problem.

Chief Rangers Martin Bain is to conduct negotiations with Velicka, whose only concern in May where he is in manager Walter Smith's plans for next season, with both strikers already at the club.

Viking sports director Egil Ostenstad said: "I had a very good dialogue with Martin Bain. Andrius has been given permission to discuss a contract with the Rangers in the coming days ".

Former Rangers striker Ostenstad added: "At this stage in his career, he would not have been good for us to block the passage to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He will win a lot more than it earns a Viking. "

Rangers Kenny Miller made their first attack of the summer signing yesterday and Scotland international, who joined from Derby for £ 2million, is determined to win supporters who opposed the move.

Miller, who has played for Old Firm rivals Celtic from its 15-month stay with the Rangers, which ended in 2001, a signature was not popular among many fans.

But 28 years, is determined to prove his value during his second spell at the club.

He said in the Daily Record: "Playing for Celtic has not helped in terms of my popularity with the Rangers fans but I have heard many things said and most of the time, it is one thing - a large number of Rangers fans do not want me because they do not think I'm fine.

"I saw my signature described as a step backwards and, most importantly, the manager does not believe it."
