Club Icelandic IA Akranes insist Hearts have not made an approach for manager Gudjon Thordarson.
Thordarson was identified by Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov as the man to take the reins Tynecastle for next season.
Speculation earlier this year Thordarson linked with a move to Hearts, Akranes, however, been surprised to see the manager again linked to the Jambos.
Toddy Gudjonsson, IA Akranes CEO who is also the son of Thordarson said: "of course, we heard about this in the winter.
"However, we have not heard anything about this since and it has not been an approach to everyone. This is the first I've heard again this morning. "
Some newspaper articles have also argued Scotland assistant manager Terry Butcher could be invited to help Thordarson Hearts.
However, it is believed that any such initiative is far from being realized.
Thordarson, 52, has experience working in British football, which has already Romanov specified as a desirable quality for the new manager of Hearts.
