Gudjon Thordarson confirmed his interest in the Hearts job

Gudjon Thordarson has confirmed its interest in the job after Hearts appears as a candidate to become the club's new manager.

Iceland and former Stoke boss also claims "a fact" that Scotland assistant manager Terry Butcher Tynecastle become his number two.

Thordarson, currently in charge of the Icelandic league side IA Akranes, said in the Scottish Sun: "Things are really rolling when the board Hearts realized that I can bring people like Terry.

"When I said Butcher wanted to be my assistant they seemed impressed and it is a fact, it will join me."

Thordarson the son of Toddy Gudjonsson, which is IA Akranes CEO, insisted yesterday Hearts has not made a formal approach for his father.

However Thordarson, 52, claims he was contacted through its agent, and it would be ready to take the job if the conditions are right.

"If people are ambitious in their proposals that I am ready to consider them," he said. "But I'm not losing sleep over this."
